@AllegedHollowLlama: I honestly dont know if a LOCI is going to really tip the needle unless you get on the waitlist. the other thing I have cautioned myself with is a lack of material if I get on the waitlist by using up my material for a LOCI now prior to hearing back
PeeledBanana
15:17
I also heard it could be a bad look to send a LOCI, when they are this backed up as if it could give a "hey do you your job" kinda vibe
PeeledBanana
15:17
at the end of the day, it is your judgement call.
AllegedHollowLlama
15:25
That makes sense, yeah
AllegedHollowLlama
15:25
I guess I'll wait for the official notification, hope it is a waitlist, and then send a note
AllegedHollowLlama
15:26
I'm not worried about using up material exactly--but I dont' want to alienate them

I know what you mean. Even a simple letter could suffice just to keep the beacon lit.
PeeledBanana
16:56
when they say to "use good social judgement" I think that leaves so much room for interpretation and almost make it seem like they are just waiting to see how you perform just to judge you in the end

Is UChicago now just trickling out a last few acceptances? Not sure what to make of the couple folks reporting As over the past few days.
PeeledBanana
16:05
it doesnt make sense to me. I interviewed mid Feb. How are folks like me still waiting on a response...

UC sure has A LOT of WL loll
Is it really possible to get off of the wl

believe.
Do law schools communicate about applicants that send LOCIs?
I'm wondering how much harm there is in telling multiple schools that they're your top choice
Kobeforthewin
21:35
i did that in every why x essay

I only told my top choice that they’re my top choice. For the rest I said “among my top choices”

I don’t know if schools communicate about them but I wouldn’t feel right about it; I felt bad enough withdrawing from schools that I didn’t promise to attend 😂 people pleasing ftw
doubt they communicate about it, but I'm sure they can sense when it's a lie- if you have a fairly generic LOCI and randomly say YOU'RE MY TOP! theyre going to think that's odd
the paper should say you're my top without saying it- it's good to also have the actual words; but you know

Any waitlist movement?
does anyone know why uchicago has a deadline for locis ? and the harm in submitting after? like can you even submit anything later like updates, etc. throughout the summer

I am wondering the same thing as I missed the LOCI deadline

Thanks. I was trying to figure out if they are sending out to everyone still on their WL or just the top ones. Honestly still waiting for the R considering they have to be getting full.
is chicago pulling more heavily from their wl this year??
