Tell us what's important to you
is the name worth that much?
depends on the person. if they think so sure

18:15
Question: Barring academia, does a difference in outcomes with HYS make it worth sticker in comparison to the rest of the T14 in your minds?
18:15
And/or use the much-overhyped "Ivy League" label to impress other people who care too much about such things
columbia carries more weight in big law firms. some firms have harvard night dinners, columbia night dinners, etc. never heard of that for michigan
18:16
disco disco disco
18:16
@ararara: HYS sticker vs a full ride elsewhere in the T14 only makes sense for A. academia B. irrational desire/need to take a shot at SCOTUS or ICJ, IMO
18:16
i wouldve taken HLS at sticker if i got in tbh
irrational desires is real
[] ararara
18:17
Thanks jb that's what I've been thinking except I wouldn't call it irrational necessarily but for fun haha.
18:17
i may be stupid
@ararara: also depends on if you want the super shiny unicorn outcomes. no way you're in charge of the FTC when you're 31/2 without yale
for example
[] ararara
18:18
(also want to disco)

18:19
Thanks legendary "necessary but not sufficient"
[] ararara
18:19
Weird to think about not lsat tutoring anymore haha
man I really want to be the chair of ftc
really that dream job outcome out of law school
18:20
would be cool tbh
18:20
Well, it's relative. Given HLS at sticker vs T20 $$$$, HLS' outcomes are A. a degree of magnitude better for goals besides biglaw and B. *far* more robust to a recession even in biglaw, so it's a tough call
R&R
18:21
HLS at sticker versus $$$-$$$$ at NYU or Chicago, you'd need very unusual goals to justify HLS
I just wanna know how you came up with that one. out of all the jd required/advantaged jobs. chair of ftc
18:22
Also a totally different calculation if you plan on utilizing the LRAP, in which case HLS at sticker is really HLS with a back-loaded full ride
[] ararara
18:23
It's so awesome they do that
[] ararara
18:23
HLS' public defender program is pretty good too
@KetchupOnPasta: she's famous for her paper on antitrust and going after amazon
when she was at yale
ftc seems to be the natural progression
18:25
And the HYS LRAPs are dramatically better than some peer schools' programs. Someone with (for example) $300K in assets and $200K in debt 5 years out of law school would be eligible for 25% of their income-based LRAP benefit at HLS, but $0 at NYU
