My LOCI was mainly what I was excited about and a work update I realized only my first two sentences really said anything in terms of commitment and tho I said if offered id accept and attend immediately that was like it. Like full stop to that.
ok gn for real yall best of luck
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
23:04
Telling them you’re guaranteed to attend is like +100 and being a teeny bit sloppy is like -10. So you’re at like +90 :p
I see. I'm not sure how much firmer a commitment you could make to go than to say you'd accept and attend immediately if admitted.
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp

Gn bestie 🦫
Is that, like, the firmest commitment possible?
rooting for you all :^)
You don't need to repeat that commitment sentence after sentence after sentence in a LOCI, I would say
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
23:05
Oh wait you said specifically if offered you’d accept and attend immediately? That’s all you gotta say
23:05
So what happened was I was drafting the LOCI, they sent an email saying “let us know by Thursday your willingness to attend” and in that LOCI, which was submitted on 4/23, I said I’d attend if accepted. In the email tonight I said I’d attend even if I wasn’t offered a scholarship and that they’re my top choice (yeah I somehow didn’t explicitly say that the first time)
I see. If that's what happened, then I actually retract my previous point that what you did was even so much as sloppy. I don't think this is sloppy at all.
23:06
I hadn’t planned to submit it for another few days so I spent the entire night after they sent out the feeler finishing it to send it in
You just didn't add further info in the first LOCI.
I mean, I guess it isn't ideal. But it's so not a big deal.
23:06
That’s what I worry might be a bit sloppy, but honestly yall saying whatever sloppiness may be there, if any, is outweighed by the benefit of strengthening my level of commitment has helped me a little
Yeah, that would be my take, fwiw.
23:07
Sorry not to TMI I have an anxiety disorder and imma be real I probably need to go get a prescription for medication to help w this before law school but yeah it’s been really really tough mentally this past week and especially today hence the email. So thank you
23:08
At least now I know my emotions about “I’ve screwed myself it’s all over” is factually incorrect. Just gotta ride the emotional wave out thank you guys seriously
Should you say that you would 100% go to a school if accepted?
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
23:09
You got this man, it might not feel like it mentally but you’re in a good place. Anxiety is a liar and a bully (I take escitalopram for anxiety)
23:09
If true, it certainly doesn’t hurt. In my case it is completely true
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
23:09
Yeah if you’re on a WL and you want in nothing is more powerful than saying honestly you’d drop everything to attend if accepted
Has anyone ever said in LOCIs to two or more schools that they would 100% attend if admitted? I imagine it's happened before, but we shouldn't do that because it would be unethical, I take it.
23:10
Yeah imma keep telling myself logically I’m okay. My brother just shook me up when I said I wanted to email he said “don’t be an idiot you’re gonna screw yourself and ruin it just wait” but he didn’t even hear me out when I tried to explain why I felt the need to email
23:11
@CanWeTalkAboutTerrenceMalick: people unfortunately do it all the time I’ve seen redditors recommend it because “how will the schools know” and then just say whichever takes the bait first make sure you withdraw from the other immediately. But I agree it’s horrible behavior and unethical
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
23:12
It’s dumb and sometimes but rarely schools talk about applicants and it can screw you
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
23:13
Maybe it’s just an LSA urban legend but it’s supposed to be a bad idea
23:13
It makes me upset seeing people recommend that to others like it looks bad on them sure but it also weakens all statements like that cuz then schools have to figure out if everyone is saying that to every school or serious
23:13
The not-dishonest way to say it is "I would immediately accept an offer of admission" (and accept whichever school offers first), but only if you are prepared to do just that without waiting on aid etc.
