13:02
raya are u going into BL
13:02
yeah
13:02
going to boston
13:03
very nice. did u want boston?
13:03
yeah
13:03
I tried texas during 1L and it was awesome. but I decided on Boston because of family reasons and also disliking car culture
13:03
Boston has public transit, texas does not
13:03
fuck I wish one person would say Virginia was miserable so I won't feel bad if I don't get in
13:04
lol
13:05
guys I have a dumb question- do I have to do anything to send my LSAT scores to schools or does LSAC does it for me once I pay for CAS? I sent it an application to WashU but im uncertain if my lsat score went too
13:06
@rayraywa: im hoping to go dc this summer. diversity positions plz dont go away
SpottedLargeLion
13:06
how good of grades do u need for 1L SA at uva?
13:06
pretty good lol
13:06
but thats everywhere
13:06
It's market dependent. I got a 1L SA at median in Texas, but you need above median for other markets
13:07
is median 3.4?
13:07
I got a 1L SA in texas without ties at median and nURM. But that is the miracle scenario
13:07
yeah it is 3.4
SpottedLargeLion
13:08
@rayraywa: do people act like they want texas for the position
13:08
@ClerkHopeful: are you pay for CAS it'll be automatically sent to schools. but in the application it'll ask for your score. you just put it in there as well. With every app you submit, LSAC will send your full CAS with GPA/LSAT/etc.
13:09
@SpottedLargeLion: as in do they pretend? some people do, but the firms are pretty good at sniffing out BS. Some are able to get it but typically they don't hire without ties unless you are very convincing about your interest in texas
13:17
@ClerkHopeful: after* you pay for CAS autocorrect is out to get me
13:20
@rayraywa ty, very helpful
13:24
@rayraywa: what kind of grades do you think are needed for DC big law
13:24
/does urm help?
13:31
@hilltern: URM may help a little bit but the firms use it less now that they are being sued by Ed Blum. I think GPA is impossible to say. interview skills are consistently undervalued
13:31
does anyone have the link to the google doc that details how diff schools weight lsat score vs gpa
13:32
my firm's Boston office has only hired VLR people for the last 6 straight years and they hired me with a 3.5ish GPA and no law review. Its because I grinded interview prep and networking so I really aced the interview
13:32
my gf is applying to law school too and I want to send it to her
13:33
@hilltern: to get the best DC big law (covington, GDC, WilmerHale, etc.) yeah you probably need good grades but at least one of the ppl going to one of those firms from my class has grades lower than mine so interview skill really is super important
