@GroovyAuspiciousMilk: I havent heard back from UVA, but its a long shot. I'm below both medians. I applied to alot of schools below both medians hoping that my Jan retake would get me where I needed to be, but I fumbled it. Its okay, I've accepted it, but I'm just riding the rest of the cycle out in case miracle happens LOL

LuxuriantAbjectWalrus
10:58
Just hope the recession is over by the time ur a2L
GeneralAbhorrentKoala
10:58
wasnt GDP down for the past three quarters or something before it went up last quarter
10:58
@ararara: that's typically why people advice against ED bc you're forcing your hand
Unemployment is low I think but certain fields (tech, for instance) are laying off due to overhiring during covid peak
LuxuriantAbjectWalrus

Striking out at oci can be pretty bad
roSTEM566
10:58

GeneralAbhorrentKoala

tech layoffs are a correction
@Immaterialcobweb: dont give up just yet! im headed for r&r too most liekely
At least that is my vague understanding
GeneralAbhorrentKoala
10:58
not a recession

GeneralAbhorrentKoala
10:58
they overhired during COVID
LuxuriantAbjectWalrus
10:58
Biglaw layoffs are also imminent
@LuxuriantAbjectWalrus: holy shit really
BL layoffs en masse?
LuxuriantAbjectWalrus
10:59
Stealth layoffs but yeah
GeneralAbhorrentKoala
10:59
i think just routine layoffs
GeneralAbhorrentKoala
10:59
those are standard
roSTEM566
10:59
i think its very difficult to obtain a FT big law position without a summer associate position
LuxuriantAbjectWalrus
10:59
Not at all , check out r/biglaw
GeneralAbhorrentKoala
10:59
recession or not (except COVID)
BL layoffs are like mid-level people though aren't they not lawyers just starting out?

@GroovyAuspiciousMilk: its tough but ultimately not the end of the world. working for a mother year will be nice - itll be nice to go into law school with more savings. I think ill move somewhere fun and study harder than I ever have in my life for the LSAT while working and saving some money. We've both got this!

@Maddibw: Man this process is interesting. Almost like gambling. I just caught the waitlist at Penn and so I keep kicking myself wondering what would have happened if ED'd
