Student loans are the worst part of law school.

LSD is building a tool to make them a little better.

LSD is building a student loan portal that prioritizes students' needs. The portal is completely free for students and will help students to identify the loans that work best for them.

Pre-register for our portal below. Pre-registration helps us get more lenders to join, which means better rates for all.

Please sign in to pre-register

How does it work?

Simply Put (kind of)

We run an auction between lenders for your business. Like eBay for loans, where lower rates are winners.

A little more detail

It's all automated, but it's a little bit like:

  • We get a bunch of lenders in a room
  • The lenders say what they can offer you
  • Then they go around again and try to beat each other by offering better terms
  • They keep going until we find the lender that will offer you the best terms

Help us make LSD better!
Tell us what's important to you
20:50
haha definitely, but reverse splitters will play a role this cycle
butterball
20:50
it's still early but it seems a number of schools have ben pretty generous towards reverse splitters
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:50
They accepted an extreme super splitter w a 153 and 4.16 apparently
20:50
let's hope that generosity helps regular splitters too :)
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:51
I'm hoping so. And I've been told reverse splitters might have to wait longer this cycle too
butterball
20:51
haha i got to speak with that guy who got the 153
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:51
I'm here to balance you regular splitters out so they can give us both an A
20:51
haha exactly. i always love reverse splitter success stories
butterball
20:51

Pro sports player?
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:51

20:52
Congrats!!
DidacticUnderstoodCivet

TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:52
So shoot your shot for sure!
butterball
20:52

TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:52
Thank you!
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:53
that made me feel so much more confident after an R from Cornell
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:53
Y'all convinced me to do it I'm gonna submit tonight... YLS doesn't make most decisions until later right? or am I confused
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:53
Cornell wants no class next year apparently
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:53
I think YLS doesn't release anything until Jan
WrongRuthlessDragonfly
20:53
it's a sea of red
brunettelegally
20:53
cornell hit me with an R so fast
brunettelegally
20:53
and im 17low
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:54
Cornell didn't give me an interview so I knew
brunettelegally
20:54
thought id at least get a WL or somethin
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:54
oh shoot, that's stingy
20:54
cornell has been so stingy
brunettelegally
20:54
3.8low gpa too
brunettelegally
20:54
not trying to sound cocky just dont understand the adcom thought process
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:54
You have very good stats
brunettelegally
20:54
considering im not far off medians
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:55
Yeah Cornell basically automatically rejects people under 170
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:55
Y'all wanna hear something sad
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:55
which is not very holistic
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:55
but I don't understand your case
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:55
I'm convinced cornell is playing an early april fools joke
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:55
LOL
Nah, Cornell is confident they can have a high yield of people turning down better T14 offers to go to Ithaca lmao
brunettelegally
20:56
they april foolsed me
brunettelegally
20:56
i was in the wave that got the rejection email twice
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:56
I took an LSAT PT a month and a half after taking my final one just out of curiosity and scored a 171 :l
brunettelegally
20:56
bc they messed up the date on it
Same
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:56
no studying in between
brunettelegally
20:56
@SteadyLivelyTetra: bruh they rejected u too
20:56
@brunettelegally: it's a double negative so they basically accepted you
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:56
did they invite you to a webinar later after you were rejected?
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:56
LOL
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:56
I'd kill for that to be my actual score tho
@brunettelegally: yes
brunettelegally
20:56
what is up with their admissions process
Yes they did
brunettelegally
20:56
your stats are stellar
My app probably came across like I had no interest though
brunettelegally
20:57
ok yeah same
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:57
Not Cornell sending me a mailed packet when I know they'd not take more than 5 seconds looking at my app
No why X
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:57
It almost looks like they want to bring their 25th to 170
brunettelegally
20:57
i had no reason for why bc i am from the south and dont want to be in ithaca
And my 500 character response sucked
brunettelegally
20:57
yeah same
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:57
I struggled to come up with Why Cornell
20:57
they are really trying to raise their stats this year
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:57
it's the only T14 school that requires one
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:58
they're just grumpy cause they get no vitamin D there
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:58
hahaha
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:59
I saw one dude on Reddit who said he got an A from Yale. I'm not sure if it's real
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:59
I saw that too
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:59
I don't believe it until I see a wave of posts
brunettelegally
20:59
what would yall choose out of HYS
TiresomeMomentousHuman
20:59
Stanford
Yale wave is real
Yale
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
20:59
Honestly IDK... If Stanford was anywhere in Cali but Silicon Valley it'd be an easy decision for me
But I’d rather a full ride at CCN
brunettelegally
21:00
agree with that^
brunettelegally
21:00
i think id do H tho out of HYS
21:00
why not silicon valley?
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:00
Campus isn't bad. It's pretty. And it's sunny and warm
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:00
From the midwest here. Anything warm sounds good
i'd take stanny for sure
after living in indiana forever anywhere in cali sounds like a dream
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:02

TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:03
From Chicago here
brunettelegally
21:03
Texas here, sometimes its a little too warm
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:04
yeah Texas is too warm to me lol. I was there for work one time and it was high 90s. People told me I came on cool days

TiresomeMomentousHuman

21:06

TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:06
I have no hope for Stanford
brunettelegally
21:06
@TiresomeMomentousHuman: maybe this week is our week
21:06
oh i'll get rejected from Stanford so fast lol
21:07
but I still would love to go there
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:07
I hope I can get an A from UCLA, USC
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:07
I loved writing the 250 for Stanford
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:07
the 250 for Yale though was like pulling teeth
Yall you can't make this up. Got a call from my undergrad where I'm applying for law school. Was an alumni fundraiser

brunettelegally
21:08
@CulturedAbstractedShrew: that is evil

TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:08

I don’t think USC has any money to use for scholarships
Or LSU
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:09
@brunettelegally: not too late. Other components of your app are done. Just write a short essay. Doesn't hurt to throw the money at their face

brunettelegally
21:10
which ones did yall do for stanford
@CulturedAbstractedShrew Same thing happened to me but it was one of those stupid car warranty calls from another state and city where I’m applying.
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:10
I get so many car warranty calls
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:10
I used to just ignore them
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:11
now I pick up every damn call
I swear if I could just stick my head into the ground for 6 weeks that would be perfect
Use a google voice number to sign up on websites
Ever since I started doing that I’ve gotten significantly less spam
i desperately need to write my penn core values essay but every time i try i just cannot
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:11
@SteadyLivelyTetra: that's a good idea
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:11
I'll try that
TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:12

TiresomeMomentousHuman

TiresomeMomentousHuman
21:13

DidacticUnderstoodCivet
21:22
Y'all were chatty while I was gone lol I was meeting with a 3L at UCLA I'm dying for them to give me an A
it's coming

@DidacticUnderstoodCivet: UCLA seems amazing
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
21:23
It's my dream school for so many reasons and the more people I talk to who go there the more I want it
DidacticUnderstoodCivet
21:24
Also none of my status checkers that are through LSAC are working and they never have does anyone else have that problem/know how to fix it
ReverseSplitter
21:24
@DidacticUnderstoodCivet: I would re-configure your status checker... mine wasn't working for schools like USC, GW... but now they are!
21:24
I have noticed that the status checkers through LSAC go in and out, and whenever they go back "in" LSAC thinks its an update
DependentTalentedFlamingo
21:24
Ahh, maybe that's what I saw.
21:24
LSD thinks its an update*
