I know people say softs don't matter, but I think they matter more and more
17:37
for sure, and i think my whole resume and essay really had a central theme for what I wanted to do
CulturedScatteredVulture
17:51
I think thats they key. What you write about, and how you write it can go a long way
14:14
check my scholly, softs definitely matter, all it takes is one or two adcoms to believe in you as a JD candidate
14:15
not even necessarily soft, but some offices actually view you as a holistic person with potential rather than two raw stats. And I'd definitely agree your writing, personality, and experiences weigh into these considerations a lot

Yea in some sense, the term “softs” is misleading. They’re soft in comparison to say, hard data points, but they’re not always soft skills. The quality of your writing, selection of topics, and presentation are all hard skills. Plus, if you have a long resume full accomplishments, it’s hard to call those “soft”
14:41
Genuinely, like adcoms aren't bots, some are sincere in their approach to finding the best candidates they can recruit

I agree, and as I’ve said a few times, the GPA/LSAT can’t be the only things they care about. 95% of the applicants to t14 schools all have 17x/3.7x+. If you think back to the necessary/sufficient condition questions, it’s sort of like that. The stats might be necessary to be competitive, but aren’t sufficient to guarantee an outcome. The softs differentiate people who are otherwise very similar. Once you move out of the t14 and the gpa/lsat combos normalise towards the top of the curve, the softs become even more important because the majority of overall applicants are towards the middle of the curve.
10:31
For sure, after my first rejection which was my state school I applied ED to, I thought I had no chance anywhere. But, got 2 surprising waitlists so far(temple and texas tech)
10:31
I do think my essay and softs carried my application
I applied mid feb, you guys think any chance I’m hearing back before Monday?
9:16
@dynamic I would email the adcomm. If it hasnt gone to the top of your lawhub (it usually takes a week after that for a decision) then ask them. Maybe they're waiting till after the deadline
I did not hear back lol, ending up having to pay a deposit at another school lol I'm happy with the school and it's higher ranked by Temple would make much more sense for me
I haven't heard back either
Temple if you're reading this....if u accept me with a fat scholly I'll withdrawl from everywhere else so fast I promise
My A just came and I got a full ride!

@VioletDaisies: When did you submit your app?

@VioletDaisies: congrats!!! Temple seems like a great community
9:39
Are you considering it?
10:45
That's awesome! Congratulations
10:46
And Dynamic, I'm hoping for you! I'm guessing they're waiting to send more decisions until they get a good idea of the accepted offers so far.
Thank you I appreciate all good vibes lol, it's comforting to see there are still As going out and that they extended the app deadline but I am dying inside
@TCMutant: Yes! Waiting to hear back from Georgetown first though
@Grab-The-Lantern: March 1st!
@DynamicHolisticSalad: Hoping you get your A soon!
