A quick definition of expedited proceeding:

Term: Expedited Proceeding

Definition: An expedited proceeding is a legal process that is usually initiated by a show-cause order. It is a quick and efficient way to resolve a legal matter. It is also known as a summary process or summary procedure. It is designed to be fast and efficient, and it is often used in urgent situations where time is of the essence.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: An expedited proceeding is a legal process that is carried out quickly and efficiently. It is usually initiated by a show-cause order, which requires the party to appear before a court or administrative body and explain why a certain action should not be taken against them. This type of proceeding is also known as a show-cause proceeding, summary process, or summary procedure.

Example: A landlord may initiate an expedited proceeding against a tenant who has not paid rent for several months. The landlord would file a show-cause order with the court, which would require the tenant to appear and explain why they have not paid rent. If the tenant cannot provide a valid reason, the court may issue an eviction order, which would require the tenant to vacate the premises within a certain period of time.

Explanation: In this example, the expedited proceeding is initiated by the landlord, who is seeking to evict the tenant for non-payment of rent. The show-cause order requires the tenant to appear before the court and explain why they have not paid rent. If the tenant cannot provide a valid reason, the court may issue an eviction order, which is a legal action that requires the tenant to leave the property. This type of proceeding is expedited because it is carried out quickly and efficiently, without the need for a lengthy trial or hearing.

@LawOfAchilles: i think, if the CoA is similar, it depends maybe on where you want to practice? If you want to end up practicing in Omaha, maybe Iowa is better?

esp with the scholarship!!
I don't really know where I want to end up practicing yet, but I've enjoyed living in the midwest so far. I think I might ultimately like to end up as in-house corporate for the work life balance.

I lived in Bloomington for a long time, can't speak to the law school but can answer Qs about the city if you'd like
@ParallelAgreeableOrangutan: How do you think it is to live in as a 20-something going to grad school? The comparison is Iowa city, so not an extremely high bar for liveliness. (No offense intended towards IC. I think it's a lovely place)

If you're outdoorsy, it's nice--obv no coasts or mountains, but two small lakes really close, lots of places you can go on a lowkey hike or camp without paying park fees or anything really

both uiowa and iu have a good reputation, especially with midwestern law firms. their alumni resources are pretty top notch too.
