Some interesting facts about Rutgers Law School

One of the nation’s oldest research universities and a proud member of the Big Ten, Rutgers resides at the forefront of innovation in legal education. In July 2015, the ABA approved the unification of Rutgers’ two law schools to become one Rutgers Law School with locations in Camden and Newark. Based in close proximity to two of the nation’s five largest legal markets (New York and Philadelphia), while also deeply rooted in a third top-10 market (New Jersey), and with a fiercely loyal alumni network of over 20,000, Rutgers Law School provides students with the practical training and support system to succeed as a lawyer and to succeed professionally.

Even as it has become one of the 10 largest law schools in the nation and the leading public law school in the Northeast, Rutgers Law remains resolutely student-centered and welcoming, offering the curricular breath and resources of a single large school while also providing in each location the intimacy and warmth of a small close-knit community. Our expanded set of courses and experiential offerings mean more opportunities to develop as a legal thinker and professional.

The Rutgers Law learning experience is exceptionally engaging because of our signature Minority Student Program that promotes diversity in every sense of the word. An unwavering commitment to public service cultivates in our students various ways to put legal learning into action while making a profound impact on those in need. The extraordinary technological resources at Rutgers Law, like our immersive digital classrooms that instantly connect Camden and Newark and allow us to offer more specialized and team-taught classes, complement the academic breadth and traditions associated with one of the nation’s oldest universities.

Is there a difference between the Camden and Newark campuses? Asking as an out of state student
camden is a pretty rough area but its like 5 min outside philly
you can live in philly and easily commute
newark is outside nyc
also not the nicest
I think the Newark building is nicer (from what I've heard) and has always been seen as the main campus - but I applied Camden simply because the living options are way better.
Newark/ North Jersey in general is just way more chaotic.
Camden is rough, but everyone says the Rutgers Camden campus is actually really safe and it's kinda sequestered off from the rest of Camden right over the bridge from Philly. Really opens up where you can live too - can live in Philly, in Jersey, etc... and it's definitely cheaper to live in that area too versus North Jersey/ Newark
What are my odds at rutgers? 4 years work experience 3.05 gpa, 159 lsat on file, but taking it this week with hopes of doing better. been PTing from 165-169
Hey guys, as a NJ native, just want to let you know Newark > Camden > Philly in terms of safety.

I was accepted into Rutgers yesterday but there was no scholarship info. Does this mean I didn't receive one or could it be sent at a later time?

Anyone here attending for sure? Didn't start as my top choice, but the money is somewhat hard to turn down. Everyone I've talked to from the programs has been so freaking nice too.

I was somewhat concerned by the drop in rankings. Not sure if anyone knows why?? I also heard there was a lawsuit against Rutgers Law, and was wondering if that could drop rankings further in the future?? I haven't applied yet as a result.
14:38
It is because in 2023 the Camden & Newark numbers were combined. The Newark Bar passing rate is 80% and Camden is 50%

12:37
it has very similar employment outcomes in NJ to Seton Hall which (while ranked higher) is often 2-3x the price.

12:38
newark was historically ranked higher (70s) and camden was (100s) when campuses merged, there was some impact from that, but also they were very cautious with covid which had an impact.
[] ConcernedTearfulHornet
12:39
but in terms of school in that ranking area, rutgers punches above its weight
14:25
any idea when they will start taking in WLed students?
@ShoobyTooby: I think around when seat deposits start (so like mid April ish?)
