i decided to not mess with my new laptop tonight... will probably not migrate data but rather copy stuff onto a flash drive from my old computer and then move it to puter 2

@Eggan: thats how I do it. I have my master flash drive and like nothing but crypto wallets on my computer.

I feel like most Arab parents wouldn’t be happy if their daughter brought a white guy home

@KnowledgeableRitzyWasp: Exactly. And, this was my point earlier. Yes, my views will likely evolve and change, but for a lot of issues they're indef impacted by living abroad and that's a very personal experience for which my views probably won't change. The reality is, I don't think it is arguable at all that, the issues any marginalized group in the US faces are even comparable to the issues marginalized groups face globally. And if you think otherwise, then you just have a very narrow worldview.

I guess the exception being west Europe and Australia, etc. but even western Europe isn't perfect.

I don’t think other people having it worse means the issues here are any less pressing or real

You didn't read what I said earlier. I said it was generally a distraction for what matter and then you said that was black and white. That's not a black and white view, it's comparative. Apple, for instance, donating a few million to BLM and other social justice movements is fine and maybe that makes some marginal difference here, but then they can turn around and use literal slaves to produce their product. You know they had to put up suicide nets around their factories because the conditions were so bad.

Why not instead use that money to, idk, pay your workers better? Simple: that would cost significantly more money. So, instead, pay lip service to a cause that isn't nearly as important and continue exploiting tens of thousands workers internationally.

Are you talking to me? What did I say was black and white? I have a fever lol
@babycat: yes, lol, you told me exactly that. And wasp, it is bad, and my point about distractions early which y'all jumped on was exactly that. We can focus on issues in America, but often they're very rarely as important as the actual issue. You put up some facade of morality to cover up what you actually want to do.

I’m talking about like affordable housing, cost of living, capital project funding issues. I care about workers being exploited in other countries but I care about people here too
This is not a partisan agenda I genuinely think we should be doing what we can to make peoples’ lives better in this country even if we already have better quality of life than other countries. I’m not debating anything else
progress is often incremental, even if it’s just a small gain, pushing towards our larger goals is what we want. we’re not going to get apple to stop using slave labor any time soon, but we might make it progressively less bad until the cultural window shifts enough that we can win on the big things too
