Albeit with some noise (e.g., I'm surprised Duke does not have a higher ratio given 1. reputation via sports etc. 2. in much of the South Duke is about as prestigious as it gets)

So say a school has a class size of 234 and yield of 34.9% while having 211 As on LSD, they are going to admit 700ish people to fill those 234 spots and that would mean about 500 of those As have been given out at this stage?
@QuixoticPowerfulAlligator: i also got an R like 30 minutes ago. I don't really take Rs that bad though the reason I applied to so many schools was because I know i wouldnt get into all of them
CTCSH
13:25
@manifestT14acceptances: reddit says you apply knowing you will get into all to make them do a scholarship bidding war
13:25
(4x rule also holds for Vanderbilt, Notre Dame closer to 5x)
13:26
NB: These rules of thumb break down pretty quickly outside of the T20 or T30, applicants on here skew towards T14 and adjacent schools so data here is more limited for someone targeting a regional school ranked T50-T100
13:26
I feel like Gtown could potentially be 5 times if Dean Andy is to be believed (I believe I heard him say somewhere they have almost 13-14K this year)
13:26
(Well, more limited/less representative)
13:27
It coulda been an exaggeration tho on his part if he even said something to that effect in the first place

13:27
i get that i guess im not extremely extremely sad bc im still holding out hope for nyu so my nyc dreams haven’t been completely demolished
CTCSH
13:27
So would it be wrong to say that most schools have given out around 70% of the As they will this cycle in the T14?
13:28
@TruthTheX: That could be true, but would involve a spike in their ratio if accurate. Given that's based on internal numbers, we'll know for sure once they post them or upload their next 529 report

Georgetown and Harvard probably get the most apps of all i would assume
@QuixoticPowerfulAlligator: its kinda funny you said that because i was about to say that its also kind of a blessing because im a little hesitant to want to go to school in nyc
13:29
Looking at last cycle, GULC had 2,369 people on here and 10,827 overall, for a ratio of 4.57 applications for every one logged here
13:29
Do you think the schools reaching their histroical "quotas" faster this year means that ration might be getting smaller?
Ijustwannagetinman
13:30
Schools in desirable cities and state flagships also get a lot of applications. UCLA, USC, and UT punch a bit above their weight
13:30
If you apply that ratio to 23-24 applications logged here, you get 11,759 applications this cycle (actual number likely higher, a bunch of people will log all their 23-24 applications after the cycle is over so 23-24 counts are biased down until that happens)
13:30
Yeah. I believe 4x at LEAST and just wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be 5x. Like ya said we will know eventually hahaha

13:30
and nyu
CTCSH
13:31
No, the total applications probably stays the same or increases lol But the amount of As is definitely skewed on LSD so the 4.5 or 3.5 or whatever number for total applicant numbers needs to be lower for total As. I suspect it is 2.5ish lol
Ijustwannagetinman
13:31
didnt dean any say like 14k applicants this year

13:31
Hey does anyone know if you can send additional rec letter if you got CLS reserve?
13:31
@Ijustwannagetinman: I think so but wasn’t sure hence why I backed off that number a tiny bit
CTCSH
13:32
Like last year Berk did 838 admission offers so with 251 As this cycle, they likely have given out 625/838ish As they will for the whole cycle.

anyone have any idea on Temple or Drexel waves?
CTCSH
13:32
With a 2.5 multiplier for As
13:33
In my interview he basically said in passing they have like 14 thousand apps and of those like 5 thousand are all qualified, and from there they only have 600 seats. Basically he was setting the framework for WL expectations I think
