I really wish schools were required to give at least a vague indication of where you stand on the waitlist

@PunyHealthyCyclops: I actually believe them when they say it isn't ordered most of the time tbh

I think a lot of it is luck and persistence to make yourself stand out on it @puny

I think they must have groups at least. I don’t really believe that when a spot opens they look at every applicant. Especially for schools like Penn with a huge waitlist

@PunyHealthyCyclops: I buy that but I also buy that you can get yourself to stand out regardless of where you stand on the waitlist (excluding schols like vandy that just Wl everyone)

speaking from personal experience so i swear it's true. I'd call the admissions office and touch base every now and then
I'm sure they have us grouped (if they need high GPA, high LSAT, diversity, solid softs, geographic region) but honestly it's just a crapshoot. Even if we are listed, we have no idea what they're looking to pull from

@TediousSparrow: I still really think differentiating yourself is possible with a little luck, help from God, and a lot of persistence

but yeah it really also does depend on whether your stats can get you in the door for an interview

“Williams, you can’t be totally bad,” Butler recalled thinking. “She just came in and said hello, and she was so luminous. She’s still luminous. She walks in and it’s, like, there’s too much light in the room.”
