i believe the second they get to your profile while going through the pile the adcoms are gonna get so hot to trot that theyre gonna send you that a immediately
i saw someone claim that stanford does this often? and that they would probably have an easier time beating yale for number 1 (like they dont tie) if they improved their yield
im not sure i would imagine some of it is automatic upon opening/downloading your file, almost like a read receipt. i would give so much to watch an admissions committee go through a pile of applications or read a transcript of it
ok yeah the updates for this site are all put in by hand, self reported, the updates on a status checker i would imagine could be both automatic and by hand
@stepdad: I guess it kind of depends on the school. Usually they're pretty explicit in the document / on the deposit page if it is binding. Will say something like By reserving a place/submitting a deposit in the entering class, you agree that you will not place a deposit or commit to enroll at another law school. And then maybe something about immediately withdrawing your acceptances from other schools. Then it might have something about how you can stay on waitlists as long as you let them know if you get off and want to attend the other school
