i coffee chatted a few people from this one clinic that I'm really interested in and that's fairly unique + ties w personal experience that my PS was about (did this for my LOCI, not my why Duke) so hopefully that's enough for my why Duke next year to be killer

yeah I would def recommend talking to students (whether in an affinity group or a club or clinic). They really care about your personal connection with the school and the more ways you can demonstrate youre a good fit the better.
also im not a 170+ app so dont get discouraged- just really put effort in your app and itll shine through. I always thought my Duke app was the strongest one I submitted and after reading it again it was really obvious that I would go if they accepted me even though I didnt explicitly say it
@OptimisticOutlier: when u say coffee chatted, are u like physically in durham asking duke students to grab a coffee with you or just finding people on linkedin or something and zooming
I respect the coffee chat hustle, I don't have the energy to try for wl beyond a low effort loci

glove I would reach out to an affinity group or something similar if it applies to you- that is where I got the most help/advice for my app and GO TO THE INFO SESSIONS
