Some interesting facts about University of Alabama Law School

The University of Alabama offers two online graduate degree programs. The LLM Concentrations in Taxation and Business Transactions are designed for recently graduated and practicing lawyers who want a rigorous, broad-based education in tax or business law without leaving their home or office.

The Graduate Tax program provides an educational opportunity to obtain a broad-based and in-depth advanced degree in tax law. Students can choose electives allowing for concentrations in either Estate Planning or Business Tax. The Graduate Business Concentration trains lawyers to serve the needs of clients throughout the life cycle of a business venture. The program offers technical training and skills-based instruction all through live, interactive online technologies.

Courses are taught by distinguished faculty and experienced tax lawyers from throughout the country. Many of the professors are authors and experts in their fields. Students attend virtual classrooms, where they interact fully with professors and classmates through video and audio. Students see and speak to their instructors, chat with classmates, and see and even share a whiteboard.

Although this is an online program, there are two required weekend visits to campus. Each two-year cycle begins with an Orientation weekend session at the Law School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This is an opportunity for students to meet faculty and classmates, begin to build the professional relationships that are such an important part of any LLM program, and learn the technology they will be using for the next two years. Students are also introduced to a course in tax research. Then, at the end of the second summer, students are required to return to the Law School to take comprehensive exams covering the first-year basic, required courses.

Exams are administered through a secure course management system and the virtual classroom technology offers ways to periodically assess the level of comprehension (quizzes, polling devices, etc.). The program website provides for online registration and book ordering, course materials, and announcements. Attendance in the live virtual class is required but video streams and audio downloads of previous lectures are available after class. All online students have equal access to the Law School's library resources and legal databases through the web-based systems. An independent study/tax research course is available each semester to enable students to qualify for financial aid or loan deferment.

Has Bama done an actual wave? Or just sporadic admissions so far?
18:44
@MikeRoss2: seems like they do small waves, was lucky enough to catch one :)
Any idea on why some people receive decisions much faster when their stats are not necessarily higher?
Y'all, Ive been on "pending final decision" for literally two months. What's going on.

submitted my app in sept, its march and nothing yet. Is Bama planning to admit a 2027 class?
9:55
just wanted to put this in here: i talked to dean Arrington and she said if you do the right things (1 year in AL, driver's license/voter reg. in AL, and register for bar/get a job in AL for 1L summer) you are likely to succeed in a petition for in-state residency in 2L/3L

Absurd to have so many people waiting this far into the cycle

For those confused- I’m in undergrad here at UA. The law school registrar quit so that’s why it’s been so delayed. Even the law students got their grades back a month late because of it

Thank you for the info Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Atlanta Braves
hopefully we receive some further insight from marcell ozuna (ozuna from the braves)

Since we talking baseball, watchout for a Nick castellanos hr because the waitlist just hit
Anyone else have Bama jump to the top of lawhub?
When does Bama send scholarship information after the A?
@LeanEagerDragonfly: mine did mid last week; I got the A yesterday!
I applied to bama in mid October, have been in "pending final committee decision" for 4 months, sent an LOCI in mid January, and it's now been another 7 weeks since I sent that LOCI. Is it time to email them again to more briefly reiterate my interest?
Has there been a wave or something today?
@WasabiPirates: I would wait and probably only send something else if you get waitlisted.

@CrazyOptimalManta: Ozuna from the braves would have had this all done months ago (Ozuna from the braves)
