I wish the office could be transparent and tell applicants the class is full. HLS/YLS are being transparent... SLS clearly isn't lol

@TheOneWhoHonk: no clue! we haven't received any official news. I bet a few more folks will defer/defect to HY over the summer. I think the classes have been as high as 200-210 in past years so if they get down to that maybe they're okay?

Is it possible that some of the 250 in the group chat are AO and current students? I find it crazy they are over by 70 students. Hope that doesn't dilute the 1L experience for those attending.

@matchalulu: they told us explicitly it's just admits, it was funny i think they were trying to tell us "say whatever you want there aren't any admit officers here" lol

@FlynnRoadStar hehe lol
lol
I hope they send out an update soon. Or at least be like Penn and say the class is full
I'll stay on but i hope the SLS office can temper expectations

@TheOneWhoHonk: for sure stay on! it can't hurt. and i bet dean deal will release everyone when it's truly a 0% chance
hope so! I'll keep a sliver of hope but thanks for the detailed response, that helps me plan a bit more for the fall

The admitted students chat has over 250 people but the committed students group (which hasn't been mentioned) has about 130 people. Now, there may be more than that given that some admits may not know about the chat but I think it's safe to conclude all 180 seats haven't been filled yet.

I write this to provide some perspective and hope for waitlisted applicants.

Even without this info, I would take the claims that adcoms told students the class is full with a grain of salt. SLS is well known for having an opaque admissions process - people aren't released from the waitlist until the first day of classes. Also, dean deal has been doing this for over 30 years - I'm sure they admitted the amount they did factoring in typical yield rates and expecting to use their waitlist. In the event they overenrolled, there's no way it would be by 50+ students
Appreciate the message! I'll stay on regardless, but hoping some spots do open up. Who knows?
12:03
For folks on the waitlist, did your Lawhub status tracker update to reflect your waitlist position? It still says my application has been submitted for review even though I got the WL email last month.
it says DLS for mine
but I didn't receive any physical letter yet. just that email with attachments.

Did you waitlist ppl send a LOCI? Do they even want one?
Yes!
Did you get waitlisted yesterday? wtf are they doing still sending out WL Decisions?
Perhaps the silver lining is that maybe they expect to use the WL if they are still sending out WLs?
AverageGlisteningAxolotl
11:04
But did they say anywhere official? I wonder if they even want more work given their workload getting through all of the applicants. This is what crosses my mind

Or maybe its no big deal to read/scan another letter. They get the gist. they move on. idk

JK I found my answer on Dean Deal's blog. The response was from 2011 lol but at least its something
what was the answer?

She says she doesn't consider LOCIs clutter mail and of course she welcomes them. Just use judgement on whether or not to send one or how many
