A quick definition of WPPT:

Term: WPPT

Definition: WPPT stands for WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty. It is an international agreement that helps protect the rights of performers and producers of music and other audio recordings. This treaty ensures that they are fairly compensated for their work and that their creations are not used without their permission. It helps to promote creativity and innovation in the music industry.

A more thorough explanation:

WPPT

WPPT stands for WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty. It is an international agreement that protects the rights of performers and producers of music recordings.

Under WPPT, performers have the right to control how their performances are used and to receive payment for their work. Producers of music recordings have the right to control how their recordings are used and to receive payment for their work as well.

For example, if a musician records a song, they have the right to decide how that song is used and who can use it. They can also receive payment for the use of their song. Similarly, if a music producer creates a recording of a song, they have the right to decide how that recording is used and can receive payment for its use.

WPPT is an agreement that ensures performers and producers of music recordings are protected and compensated for their work. The examples illustrate how performers and producers have the right to control the use of their work and receive payment for it. This helps to ensure that musicians and producers can make a living from their work and continue to create new music for us to enjoy.

Tell us what's important to you
BU at least for undergrad is full of kids who had the grades for way better schools, BU was just their safety, there isn't a sense of community here
13:50
yeah the school is HUUUGE too
i never got that mentality
that makes it slightly isolating @cclaw
you'd think it'd be the opposite but the lack of campus makes it kind of blend into the city
13:51
that's how umass amherst felt for me but we had a bit more community out there (and it was fun)
i voluntarily chose a school that by stats was a "safety" for undergrad because i liked it a lot
Yeah i'm not saying I didnt make friends here or had a good time, just that the overall atmosphere is dreary
I wonder if the law school is any better
probably not
i heard it's less cutthroat in the T14 and like regionals and below
But yeah from my reserach if you have a 170+ and your GPA is basically 3.3 and above you can get into schools like WashU, Wake Forest, could you get into UVA?
T30 tier is extremely cutthroat by rep because everyone is competing for the few BL slots their school will get or to transfer to a T14
It's 173 as the min this year at WashU
may or may not go up next year
does applying early decision to WashU help your chances?
170 SHOULD be plenty to get you into WFU but mileagle may vary
13:57
@GeneralBrusilov: WashU is probably one of the worst schools to ED to
Really? why is that?
mountaineer are you saying more cutthroat at non-t14 regional feeders cus of the competition for BL offers?
yes exactly
dang i guess that makes sense sucks for me tho
same shoes here lmao
13:59
maaan im sorry you guys have so much pressure on yourselves
14:00
@GeneralBrusilov: If you have a 173/whatever GPA median they're targeting (goes up each year as GPA inflation gives them more high GPAs to pick from), you'll almost certainly be admitted. If not, you'll almost certainly be waitlisted/denied (other than URM applicants). The only effect of ED for most applicants would be to cost them the significant scholarship WashU offers most admits
@cclaw: i really ain't shooting for biglaw so i don't care, mostly interested in mid or lower or gov work
14:01
This cycle WashU admitted 97% of applicants with a 173+ LSAT and below-median GPA, 2% of applicants below both medians
14:01
High GPA/low LSAT more mixed success, but they stick to this "right angle" and your stats either are or aren't above the cutoff
