Simple English definitions for legal terms

Arizona

Read a random definition: Convention on the Grant of European Patent

A quick definition of Arizona:

Arizona has laws that protect people from unwanted emails, phone calls, and faxes. These laws also prohibit sending sexually explicit content to minors and committing computer-related crimes like phishing. Violating these laws can result in fines or even jail time. The State of Arizona's Office of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division provides additional resources for people who want to learn more about these laws.

A more thorough explanation:

Arizona has several laws in place to regulate electronic communications and prevent spam, telemarketing, and other forms of unwanted solicitation. These laws include:

  • Commercial Email and Spam: The Commercial Electronic Mail Law of 2003 prohibits the sending of unsolicited commercial emails and constitutes a class 2 misdemeanor if violated.
  • Telemarketing and Telephonic Anti-Solicitation: The Telephone Solicitations Law of 1989 regulates telemarketing and telephonic anti-solicitation and was amended in 2012 by Arizona H.B. 2825.
  • Faxes, Texts and Other Media Anti-Solicitation: The Unsolicited Commercial Fax Law of 2003 prohibits the sending of unsolicited commercial faxes.
  • Unlawful Trade Practices: The Arizona Consumer Fraud Act of 1967 prohibits deceptive and unfair trade practices.
  • Pornography: Arizona law prohibits sending sexually-explicit emails to minors and makes it an offense for juveniles to send sexually-explicit images of a minor by means of an electronic communications device.
  • Computer-Related Crime: Violations of the Commercial Electronic Mail Law of 2003 and the Internet Representations Law of 2005 constitute misdemeanors and felonies, respectively.

For example, if a company sends unsolicited commercial emails to Arizona residents, they would be violating the Commercial Electronic Mail Law of 2003 and could face a class 2 misdemeanor charge. Similarly, if an individual receives a telemarketing call despite being on the National Do Not Call Registry, the Telephone Solicitations Law of 1989 would be violated. These laws aim to protect Arizona residents from unwanted and potentially harmful electronic communications.

@llama: your cycle confuses me, your stats are good and you applied early but all of those Rs? Is there anything weird about your app?
do you have C&F issues or something?
also ur first choice is kansas but you didnt apply there?
12:55
@RasheedWallaceFan: Hi. Yes, I waited for April LSAT, put almost all apps (which were sent really early) so that basically most of my apps were reviewed In May. Shot myself in the foot for 155 -> 161 lmao. Would not recommend 10/10
12:57
@RasheedWallaceFan: unironically, KSLS was my top choice, however by April LSAT their app had closed. It was like waiting to date ur dream partner, but waiting until you graduate uni, then by the time u graduate uni, your soul mate is already married with 2.4 kids and 1.6 dogs. Heartbreak.exe fr fr
12:58

Most schools will hold your application for the next test score to be released into your account as well. I was notified by an admissions director that if a decision is processed they will not retroactively go back for the new score even if higher

I vote NEL-Boston so we can be friends :D

13:34
But it says you withdrew?? :(
ParallelAgreeableOrangutan
13:41
@Bettercaulsaul: in my experience, there is often an option on the application for you to choose whether you'd like them to review your application as-is ASAP or hold it until your new score is released. but it probably varies by school—I just remember seeing that option on at least a few app forms
