@manifestT14acceptances: look up how much adcomms make lol they aren’t poor
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
14:05
Is it really that hard though
Ijustwannagetinman
14:06
Law school admissions isn’t really a thankless job though
Ijustwannagetinman
14:06
When u make A calls people cry tears of joy
Ijustwannagetinman
14:06
And you don’t have to talk to the are

I feel bad for the random students or whoever answering phones, but actual adcomms can kick rocks
Ijustwannagetinman
14:06
I’m sure it’s hard to hold someone’s fate in your hands though
14:06
@Ijustwannagetinman: thats true and a fair point. I just see so much negativity towards adcomms implying they are lazy, etc. the UVA adcomms literally work weekends
I'm sure they stick the newbies or interns or student employees with the worst jobs tbh, and then the actual adcoms only have to make A calls or don't interface with candidates at all
https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Jobs/Law-School-Admissions/--in-New-York#:~:text=How%20much%20do%20law%20school,per%20hour%20in%20new%20york%3F&text=%2422.07%20is%20the%2025th%20percentile,Wages%20below%20this%20are%20outliers.&text=%2433.94%20is%20the%2075th%20percentile. help me out here i really wanna see things your way but it looks like a lot of people are claiming that $65000 is the average. im sure people in leadership make a ton but those arent the people answering the phones
14:08
at least at UVA I think everybody is making well below 6 figures except the dean
14:08
The people at the top deserve the flak, it's their job to set their processes and staffing so people hear back on a reasonable timeframe. The admin assistant answering the phones and the university bureaucrat processing your app/getting it ready for a read are cogs in a bureaucracy who make a middle-class salary and juggle an insane busy season
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
14:08
8/10 of the jobs listed on there aren’t adcoms
UVA adcoms are pretty efficient
The only adcoms I actually judge are those NY schools haha
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
14:09
I’m not mad at the student admissions counselor who’s doing it for 20 dollars an hour
14:09
@jb2028: their job is to give the law school the best possible candidate class, and unless the slow timeframe disadvantages that (which for some schools it does but at many top schools it does not) they are doing their job
@rayraywa: Completely unrelated, but did you have an easy time breaking into the boston market from UVA?
trynna do the same thing out of cornell
https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/new-york-city-admissions-officer-salary-SRCH_IL.0,13_IM615_KO14,32.htm don't get me wrong this is a service i paid for and i expect to receive timely/polite service but the idea that the person picking up the phone is rolling in it isn't supported
14:11
@FranticSpiffySwallow: I had a fairly easy time breaking into Boston but it was a different market
KermitTheHermit
14:11
Anyone have their BC status/substatus disappear a few days after going under review?
14:11
Yes, I understand they don't prioritize faster responses unless it serves an institutional interest. I think flak from applicants who are frustrated with that is totally valid, even if I can see why schools gain little from prioritizing that
14:11
during my cycle it was still mostly OCI (not pre-oci) and I applied pre-oci which gave me an advantage as well
14:12
(Or think they gain little, schools that do As in late April/after deposit deadlines probably will lose some admits who are mad over the wait)
Gotcha, appreciate the info!
14:12
@FranticSpiffySwallow: if you want to talk Boston big law, please DM me! happy to give my thoughts there rather than burden everybody here
14:13
The late April thing does seem like it's at least partly a result of The Historically Slow Cycle
