Tell us what's important to you
is there a way to find similar applicants without a GPA? im an international and only have a rating
GracefulHummingbird1
12:19
but you also still check those boxes for first gen and im pretty sure they can figure out if you're wealthy or not largely based on where you're from
GracefulHummingbird1
12:19
so i doubt working it into your narrative is a necessity
12:19
I definitely think its necessary
12:19
At least a little
12:19
The whole point of those softs is you're supposed to bring some unique perspective based on it
BrooklynMidnightRain
12:20
I basically made that my statement
12:20
@GracefulHummingbird1: at this point u got a kj1 without a ds so you're killing it and you obviously have something they're looking for
GracefulHummingbird1
12:20
i just don't think growing up poor defines me so i didnt make it my statement but they also just know that
GracefulHummingbird1
12:20
purr thanks bobcat
CurvedAbsurdKobold
12:20
i did end up working it into my statement because i didn't have much else to add
I worked some level of being bi into my diversity statement to schools but I didn't really belabor the point. Only half a page on it
GracefulHummingbird1
12:20
questioning my whole app
12:20
@GracefulHummingbird1: Well it doesn't like 'define' you but it definitely influences the way you view the world, and explaining that influence is good enough imo
12:21
hummingbird what time is ur interview
GracefulHummingbird1
12:21
that's facts
@MrDonut: That's exactly how I handled it
Used the phrase "how I view the world" lol
12:21
I wrote about how my experiences can translate into classroom conversations in a way my nonpoor classmates cant bring
12:21
Even the best intentions need experience with that stuff to have an effect
12:22
fordham really should be today
12:22
i beg
I wrote similarly to Mr.DOnut
CurvedAbsurdKobold
12:22
yeah i dont think diversity statements need to be strictly about how they define you but how your experiences affected who you are
How my t3 softs can be used as my motivation to practice law
12:22
@PrincessM: fordham for u today
CurvedAbsurdKobold
12:22
my diversity statement was the same
12:22
@CurvedAbsurdKobold: exactly
CurvedAbsurdKobold
12:23
there's a reason every school (sans nyu) is pretty vague about what they want for it

@surfsupcowboy: 3, no more, no less.
