And this can keep happening as long as life stuff can happen at schools further "up the chain" (i.e. with the ability to have waitlist admits drop their current school and enroll). Mostly this shakes out between deposit deadlines and early summer, but miscellaneous stuff (health, partner has to move cities, gap year option too good to pass up) can continue to happen more or less until classes start
