s@tarzacc: do we think they're full? the wave today was waitlists I fear that's because they're done with
Ijustwannagetinman
16:39
As
this whole law school admissions thing toxic
16:40
Seems kinda rough to fill in before you've even started reviewing all the 2023 applications but what do I know lamo

16:41
Why is this cycle so much slower than previous ones? I can't even find comparable stats for this late in the game in past cycles
Ijustwannagetinman
16:41
Like end of march and we still have A waves happening
Ijustwannagetinman
16:41
insane
well isn't there a rise in the number of applications?
16:41
@Ijustwannagetinman: AA scotus decision
16:41
and lsat debacle
Ijustwannagetinman
16:41
@HorseyMed: What does the scotus decision mean about lateness?
16:41
yea first two admins this cycle got fucked up right
16:41
@ijustwannagetinman supreme court end of AA, fafsa changes, the giant fuck up that was the digital LSAT i the fall
Ijustwannagetinman
16:42
So is that why things are slower?
16:42
they had to figure out how to deal with the end of AA
Ijustwannagetinman
16:42
like it genuine IS slower this time? not just in my head
16:42
they still want a diverse class

16:42
The SCOTUS decision means that adcomms have to read files instead of looking for a checked box. Not every school had the extra staff in place to do so, at least at the outset.

Idc I think all decisions should be done by end of march. Move whatever needs to be moved to make it happen
16:42
so they're learning how to navigate spotting URM through PS
16:42
have to clear new processes w counsel and all that
16:42
schools delayed their usual waves or admitted smaller amounts until they got a good idea of the app pool as well as what they themselves were going to do to admit lower stat minorities under the law
16:42
some don't think that's legal, so there were decisions that had to be made about that
Florida State changing their diversity statement name to Seminole statement
16:43
they all had to redo their applications so demographic data was hidden from adcomms
Ijustwannagetinman
16:43
So do I still have a prayer at USC
16:43
LSAT fuck up in the fall meant more Jan LSAT takers than ever before
ClassyPleasantHeron
16:43
Schools in California and Michigan already were admitting under those conditions, so this was just another cycle for them.
