counter point, being bilingual is based and they'd probably agree
I actually think some top schools do like it if you are multilingual since they put it in their class profiles
@NumberlessSpikyNibbler: i've heard UNC looks for North Carolina residents, which I am not, is that true?
Especially if it's an unusual one

also, can't hurt right?
12:08
@Prxttylawprincess: I feel that. I know growing up things were weird given where my mom decided to raise me
@BaseballFan98142: i'm not sure, but ik they favor nc applicants for undergrad so maybe it's similar
@SidewaysGoat: do you mind me asking where you grew up?
12:09
@ararara: lmao not tryna flex, just thought it was relevant to your message. but that is pretty cool!

@ararara: I love helping birth animals- I have done it with cows and dogs

@Prxttylawprincess: small poor southern town with 0 diversity other than black/white/latinx

i had an opposite experience, i grew up around a ton of diversity so now i don’t really wanna go somewhere without that. hence part of my draw to nyc since id wanna practice in the area and have my kids grow up where they can experience all that diversity

@Prxttylawprincess: that is insanely crazy
@SidewaysGoat: I can see how that would be weird! Lol

North Carolina has a quota for in-state residents, a certain percentage of each class must be in-state. I don't think it's as drastic for law school as it is undergrad but they def favor in-state
if you are at medians for the school and apply ED, what kind of things would make them defer you? bad essays?
UNCW just got fined for enrolling too many out of state undergrads.
12:12
@Prxttylawprincess: if you get NDLS slay it. Even if it is weird it is only 3 years :P
@UnequalMachoTaco: C&F stuff, bad recs.
Def should’ve applied to more CALI schools lol
12:16
@lunataco: how would one find out if their state has a quote for accepting IS students?
12:16
Quota*
12:18
most public schools have it, though some will opt out and just forgo the subsidies available to them by the state
12:18
@Pandally: I'm honestly not sure, it's just kinda well-known that nc is like that! esp since unc is 85% IS. you could look at your state's flagship school and see what percent of the class comes from in-state as opposed to OOS
12:20
UNC law is ~60% in state, 40% OOS
12:20
@lunataco: cool! Thanks for the info. I've been curious because I'm in VA and there are far more private than public options
12:25
@PsychaCola: thank u for clarifying! I was talking about undergrad for that ~85% stat
