i live very far from stanford so i noticed the mailings box bc a part of me was wondering what if the R letter was sent and it's taking an eternity to get to me... but ig we won't know til we know
if anyone does not have it feel free to chime in lol
PleasantPerson
13:53
ive always had the mailings box
PleasantPerson
13:56
i am not optimistic. lsdata seems to indicate that the class is nearly full
lewishamiltonfan
14:36
seems like most people they have admitted have been above both medians
wait what mailing box
ohhhh yes thats always been there, also do we know what day stanford typically gives out decidisosns
their website said they are going to try to give us all a first decision by the end of april

seems like an R wave for feb applicants, do we think they’re moving backwards now or something? 😵‍💫
@SplitterusClitterus: also curious like what days they usually call
also on the note of their class being full, I thought I just saw on reddit how they have admitted less than this time last year, meaning more room for AQs
could be wrong though

They have admitted much less than last year. When you check last years data you have to account for withdrawn acceptances which the green numbers at the top do not
thelawofthecricket
20:57
I count “35 accepted, withdrawns” for last cycle so yeah seems like you’re right
thelawofthecricket
21:02
I saw someone on reddit say they might be doing a second review of everyone they didn’t auto accept/reject/WL which I could see being the case. Most admits seems to be above both medians, maybe they wanted to set their numbers early and will go back to fill for things like location/URM/non-trad/etc?
Enter-Name-Here
21:41
Yeah they say they do that on their website but I’m not particularly sure what the intent behind it is
WampireVeekend
23:36
^ I wonder if part of it’s because they know they lose a lot of their first choice picks to HY
thelawofthecricket
23:38
I think probably, because yeah if you look at the current A's the numbers are super high. I think in their initial review they identify people they know they definitely want / don't want, and then in April reject most people anyway
thelawofthecricket
23:40
And then if you look at the big R/WL waves, most people seem to be from pre-December. So would def support the idea that they're going back right now and looking to fill spots

Does anybody know how much waitlist movement there usually is?
thelawofthecricket
13:35
I think quite good actually - 15 reported “WL -> Accepted” last cycle
thelawofthecricket
13:36
well “good” relative to other top schools ofc, probably less than Harvard but I think definitely more than Yale. and probably better than some other T14 like penn/Duke which are known for having pretty low WL movement
wait there was an R wave for feb applicants??
@taygoestolawschool: I only remember them calling post 5PM est from the last 2 waves
@SplitterusClitterus: okay good to know thank you
anything today
